Lake Almanor has been a North-Eastern California destination for travelers for almost a century. The cool mountain air is a welcome relief from the heat of the Sacramento Valley. If a swim in the lake doesn't cool you off, Mt. Lassen stands like a sentry over the north end of the lake. You can find snow on it's slopes even in mid summer. A causeway was built over the north end of the lake, offering migrating birds an ideal resting spot on their travels. It is a bird watchers dream.
If you are a golfer, biker, hiker, water skier, fisherman or just like to enjoy nature, this is a destination you won't want to miss. Don't forget us in the winter, we have some of the best snowmobiling you can find anywhere, as well as skiing and sledding for the whole family.
You will want to take in some of the celebrations. Chester goes all out for the 4th of July. The fireworks display over the lake is always a must. Chester has been hosting a Rodeo that brings in participants and fans from far and wide. Check the Calendar of Events for other events you won't want to miss.
